Receiving the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 1:13
New King James Version
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a gift we receive by faith. Scripture tells us that by the receiving of the Holy Spirt we are sealed until the day of redemption. This is a comforting truth and promise that not only brings us peace but is an assurance that we will be redeemed. I know too well this feeling as I am a living testimony this truth. I not only received the Holy Spirt by faith but was blessed to have a physical encounter which marked the day I received the Holy Spirt.
As I reminisce on that day, I remember vividly that Sunday morning service at the Odsan Church on the beautiful Island of St. Lucia where I lived. This is a church that I seldom visited and when I did, it was always during a time of difficulty. I remember there was an atmosphere of worship and an alter call by a guest pastor. “Anyone who wants to receive the Holy Spirit please come forward,” he said. As he sprinkled olive/anointing oil over the congregation, I thought to myself, “If only one drop would touch me I would receive the Holy Spirt!” I maneuvered my way through the small cluster to the forefront hopping that one drop of oil would touch me. Suddenly ONE drop of oil fell on my face. I instantly felt what I can only describe as a gentle electric wave, trickle down upon me. I gasped and looked around to see if anyone had noticed. The guitarist who was on the alter to my left side was starring at me in surprise which led me to believe he had seen something happen with me. Surely after the Altar call, the church Pastor, Pastor John Joseph prompted that four persons had received the Holy Spirt and went on to advise us by the leading of the Holy Spirt. Surely, I was one of those who received the promise of the Holy Spirt by my faith that morning. My life has not been the same since.
I have shared this personal experience with you not just as a testimony of faith, but with the hope that you will put your faith into action and receive the love of God, for truly it is a life altering experience which will bring love, joy and peace that surpasses your understanding.
